Teenage boys dream comes true in sci-fi classic

Weird Science

If you didn’t have a letter jacket and had no chance of being elected class president you were probably like the majority of teenage boys, filling your days with nerdy games, etc. but secretly wishing some beauty would magically want to be with you.

That’s what happens in the 1986 classic Weird Science. Gary Wallace (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt Donnelly (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) have been the dejected time after time, and see no way to land girlfriends. Wyatt’s parents are gone for the weekend, so after watching Frankenstein decide to take their angst to another level and create the woman of their dreams.

The plan is far from perfect — they hook electrodes to a doll, hack into a government computer system for more power, and zapp — they create Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) who has a variety of powers.

She creates a Cadillac, takes the boys to a dive bar and she makes others think they are of age.

My friends at MVD Entertainment Group and Arrow Films have made a new 4K-scan of the original negative of the film and added many extras such as an archive documentary featuring interviews with cast, crew and admirers.
