One Verona shooter jailed, two sought

Roderick Clifton

Although the Verona Police Department (VPD) has one in custody for the April 26 shooting which took place in the downtown area, they are still searching for two more suspects. Roderick Clifton, of 107 10th Street in Verona, is in the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a felony probation violation. No one was hurt in the shooting, but dozens of shots were fired. The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Super C convenience store on Raymond Avenue (Highway 145). Verona Police Chief J.B. Long said after reviewing the surveillance video from the store they “know for sure who one of them is. We even have a warrant.” Police are waiting to identify the second suspect before they will release the names to the press. Clifton, 40, will be charged with having a firearm as a convicted felon. Anyone with information related to this case should call the VPD at (662) 566-2215.
