WINTER HAVEN – Lawrence H. House, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Winter Haven, Florida. Lawrence was born on November 19, 1927, in Guntown, Mississippi, the son of Alexander House and Dora Carter. In his younger years his family farmed, and his father worked in blacksmithing. He and his family even lived on an island in the Mississippi for a time. At 19 years of age, he enlisted in the Army and served in the 384th AAA Gun Battalion. He received a WWII Victory Medal. He married Dorothy Steele on July 1, 1950. After his army service, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he worked for Amtrac as a carman in metal and wood working. Together they raised four children, David House, Dennis House, Lisa Massey, and Lori LeBlanc. Eventually, the family moved to a farm in Nashville Indiana. After the children were raised, he worked at the Lighthouse Ranch in Jay Florida. He then moved to Cordova, Alabama where he was very active in his church there. In 2014 he moved to Winter Haven, Florida to be with his daughter. He is preceded in death by his father Alexander House and mother Dora Carter, his brother’s Valcon House, Henry House and his son David House. He is survived by his children Dennis House and his wife Mary Ann, Lisa Massey, Lori LeBlanc and her husband Andre’; 10 grandchildren, Molly Clark, Jennifer House, Brian House, Jason House, Kevin House, Jeremy Massey, Nathan Massey, Cody LeBlanc, Leonard LeBlanc, Renee Laurent, and nine great-grandchildren, Chase, Dillon and Everest and Finly House, Alexis Boone and Francis Hoopinggarner, Lei and Sara House, and Frances Laurent. Lawrence House leaves a legacy of simple, deep, and unswerving faith in Jesus Christ. He demonstrated an example of dedication to faith and family throughout his life.
