Doris Sisk Bryan, 88 died on March 13, 2021 at NMMC-Gilmore Hospital in Amory. Doris was born September 25, 1932 in Nettleton, Mississippi to the late Frank and Lorene Bickerstaff Sisk, pioneer families in the Nettleton area. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jim Bryan, on Christmas Eve 1949. They owned and worked side by side for most of their marriage at Bryan Hardware and Grocery and Bryan’s Big Star. She served many years as co-director of the Nettleton Cemetery. After retirement, the two enjoyed Mississippi State Baseball and Friday-night dinners and fellowship with friends. After Jim’s passing in 1993, “Nanny’s” greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings made her the happiest. She was a faithful member of Faith Outreach Church in Okolona where her son pastors. She was steadfast and true in her love for Jesus being a daily prayer warrior. In the last years of her life, she spent her time in prayer for her family and especially held a keen eye on the weather in every city a family member lived. Doris was an independent soul whose pilgrimage amongst us brought many much joy and fulfillment. A celebration of her life was held Tuesday, March 16 at Faith Outreach Church with her son, Rev. Jimmy Bryan, officiating. Holland Funeral Directors was honored to be serving their friends. Survivors include son; Jimmy Bryan and wife Ann Whitlock Bryan of Okolona; daughter, Nancy Dees and husband Kent of Tupelo; grandsons, Jay Bryan and wife Teri of Saltillo and Taylor Dees and wife Samantha of Petal; granddaughter, Layne Lindsey and husband Matt of Booneville; great-granddaughters, Lilly and Lyla Bryan, Jordana Lindsey, and Claire Dees; sisters, Linda Sisk Rakestraw and husband Jerry, Joyce Sisk Malone and husband James; special friend, Minnie Leeper of Nettleton and a host of nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.
