On Monday, Aug. 12, about 10:15 a.m., the Tupelo Police Department (TPD) found an adult female dead in a small apartment attached to a house at 1015 Eisenhower Drive. Later Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green identified the deceased woman as Kelly Gable Conway, 51, of Tupelo. Green would not comment on the cause of death. “Officers located an adult female deceased in a small apartment attached to the home,” said Tupelo Police Department spokesman Capt. Chuck McDougald. “Preliminary investigation indicates a possible homicide.” McDougald would not say what led them to rule it a homicide or if they had a suspect, or person of interest in the case. At the scene law enforcement removed several bags of evidence from the house, eventually took down the crime tape and turned the house over to the homeowner. Conway was born to John Clifton and Kay Low Gable, who married in 1963, and lived in Greenville. Her mother, Kay, died on March 4, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Her father passed away April 24, 2013. On Oct. 25, 2016 Conway was arrested for a misdemeanor, possession of paraphernalia by the TPD. Conway also lived in Springville and Trussville, Ala. The TPD confirmed this is an open “possible homicide” investigation and they will be releasing more information at a later time.
