A Tupelo man sits in the Lee County Jail awaiting transfer to a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) facility.
On Oct. 27, at 4:20 a.m., Jaquarius Monte Jones, 25, was booked into the local jail after being transfered from the McCracken County Jail, Paducah, Kentucky.
On Oct. 22, Jones was arrested. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, had been working with U.S. Marshals to locate the Lee County man, who they believed to be in the area.
They were able to track Jones down to a home on Norton Street in Paducah. At around 6 p.m. deputies, detectives and deputy U.S. Marshals found and arrested him without incident.
Jones was taken to the McCracken County Jail and charged with fugitive from justice and aggravated assault with a firearm.
According to records, Jones fled Tupelo after a June 30 shooting at the Hilldale Apartments. A female was wounded in the incident and the Lee County Grand Jury had indicted him for aggravated assault. His bond has been set at $50,000.
