Bachman documentary showcases elusive rocker

Bachman

Randy Bachman still writes, records and performs and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Very few rockers can lay claim to having #1 songs but Randy can with two different bands The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive with “American Woman/No Sugar Tonight” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.”

The new documentary, Bachman, chronicles the life of this 74 year old who is still regularly makes music and performs. The film follows Bachman as he looks to the past for inspiration from rarely seen footage, pictures and documents that have been stored at the National Archives in Ottawa for decades.

One of the most endearing qualities of Randy is he was a part of the 1960s to 1970s hippy movement but didn’t do drugs, drink alcohol or even smoke perhaps because he was brought up Mormon.

His vices were guitars and work. We worked constantly and has a collection of guitars ... he probably doesn’t remember some of them.

It’s a great trip back into time. Be sure to watch the segment “Building a Reprise: Here Comes the Sun” which shows Randy reworking the Beatles classic as only he could.
