Yellowstone has become the Western version of The Sopranos with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) running the show at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. He’s a 6th generation billionaire who owns the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.
John believes in family and supports them, as long as they tow the Yellowstone line.
He’s lost one son to colon cancer, another son Kayce (Luke Grimes) is a former US Navy Seal, who lived on a local Native American reservation with his wife and son; Jamie (Wes Bentley) yet another son who is an aspiring politician and daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) a financier and master manipulator. Then there’s Rip Wheeler (Cole Harser) who’s almost family, taken in young by John, and serves as ranch foreman and enforcer.
In season two, John and family battle constant encroachment from ruthless enemies on all sides.
Montana’s corrupt state government, wealthy business owners vying for land development deals, the Native American people of the nearby Broken Rock Reservation — they all have been, and still are, gunning for the Duttons.
And yes, there’s good news for fans — Paramount Network renewed the series for a third season. Likely season 3 will return in June 2020, but the exact date is TBD.
