Afraid is the story of a young couple, who are having problems, go to a secluded cabin to try to rekindle their romance. The girl (Alanna Masterson) is the one who is unsure about the relationship. In fact, unknown to the boy (George Byrne) she is texting another man, who she seems she would rather be with. Nevertheless, the couple goes on hikes, and do have romantic moments in this very secluded enviroment where cellphone service is temporary at best. She has the feeling someone is watching her, and it turns out she’s right — the cabin’s creepy owner has placed cameras everywhere and is recording their every move. They decide to get out only to find their vehicle has been tampered with and won’t move. Afraid is a creepy little thriller which works most of the time, but is a little slow and sluggish, especially considering their are only two actors. You’ll recognize Alanna from her work on The Walking Dead. George is a newcomer, but has enough chops to get other roles. The director, Jason Goldberg, was the co-creator of Punk’d, but this is his first feature film.
