Last week my friends at Paramount sent a new horror classic — A Quiet Place II. It releases on July 27 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD.

Both films A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place II will also be available as a Blu Ray set.

Through the first film (2018) we learn Earth's human population has been destroyed by blind alien creatures with hypersensitive hearing. They attack and kill anything that makes a sound.

At the beginning, the Abbott family – wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt), husband Lee (John Krasinski), deaf teenage daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and younger sons Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Beau (Cade Woodward) – creep bare-footed into a deserted town for supplies.

The kids are not to have toys because they make noise. Evelyn is pregnant so travel is becoming difficult for her. They must walk everywhere, because vehicles make noise.

Beau sees a battery-powered space shuttle toy, but his dad takes it away from him. Regan sneaks the toy to Beau, after removing the batteries. Beau secretly puts the batteries in his pocket.

The family is just about home, when Beau puts the batteries in the space shuttle and it initiates take-off. His dad turns around and begins to run towards him. It’s too late, one the creatures has already swept the young boy off the bridge and killed him.

Back at home, the remaining family gathers around the table, says a silent prayer and eats. They communicate by sign-language or go into the cellar and whisper. Regan feels responsible for her brother’s death, and thinks her parents can’t love her anymore.

Later, Evelyn finds herself alone, in the house, going into labor — a pipe has burst attracted one of the aliens.

This is a very suspenseful film. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 96% based on 378 reviews, and an average rating of 8.20/10.

The sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, released in theaters in May 2021 and is now coming into homes.

Of course, this unusual timing was due to COVID-19.

Also in May 2021, Emily Blunt revealed that Krasinski (who also directed the film) has an idea for a potential third main installment
