NCIS New Orleans still packs sizzle and voodoo

NCIS New Orleans - The Fifth Season

I’m not usually a fan of spin-offs, but NCIS New Orleans is an exception.

Most of the stories are great. Of course, not a lot of series are set in the south, so the New Orleans angle certainly adds to the mojo since I’ve been to a lot of the locations. Also the musical guests are right out of my playlist, the late great Dr. John, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Snowblood, Dana Abbott Band and others. I would be amiss not to mention the opening theme “Boom Boom” written by that great bluesman John Lee Hooker, and played on the show by one of my favorites Big Head Todd & The Monsters.

“Boom, boom, boom, boom I'm gonna shoot you right down Knock you off of your feet And take you home with me.”

At the end of season 4, NCIS Senior Special Agent Dwayne Cassius Pride (Scott Bakula) was shot. At the start of this season (5) Pride fights for his life in the ICU, the rest of the team searches for Amelia Parsons before she can finish Pride off.

Packed with sizzle and voodoo, the show continues to be one of my favorite crime serials.
