COVID-19 might have cancelled the Dudie Burger Festival but Sammy Adderholt and Dennie Waite are still cooking up tasty memories from the past. You can drive through the Ballard Park parking lot on May 9, 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., to pick up your bags.
It’s $10 for a bag that includes two Dudie burgers, chips, Moonpie, candy and a drink. Pre-orders are only $8. If you just want just a Dudie Burger it’s $2.50 per burger pre-order, or $3 per burger the day of the event.
For more information or to learn how to pre-order contact Deana Carlock, Tupelo Parks and Recreation at (662) 841-6440 or firstname.lastname@example.org
You’ll need to decide ahead of time how many bags, or burgers, time you want to pick your order up and how you are going to pay, by cash or check.
Those with a “sweet tooth” for the burgers, probably in the 1950s, cruised around spots like Little Joe’s Cloverleaf drive-in, Dudies Diner, Johnnie’s Hamburgers in east Tupelo, and Donna’s Grill.
