Best thriller so far available on DVD, Blu Ray

Uncover the truth when “Those Who Wish Me Dead” arrives for early Premium Digital Ownership and Premium Video on Demand (PVOD), Blu-ray and DVD. The film is directed by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and stars Oscar winner Angelina Jolie (“Girl, Interrupted,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” “Maleficent”) and Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men”).

Angelina Jolie proves once again she’s more than just eye candy, with one of the hottest thrillers this year — Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Smokejumper Hannah Faber (Jolie) has been posted in a fire lookout tower in Park County, Montana.

This new position is boring to the adrenaline junkie but she understands it’s because of her state of mind.

She failed to prevent the deaths of three young campers and a fellow smokejumper in a forest fire. Her supervisors felt this was best for her. She admitted to be in a mental funk.

Meanwhile Owen Casserly (Jake Weber), a forensic accountant, learns about the death of his boss and family in an apparent gas explosion; they were actually murdered by assassins Jack (Aidan Gillen) and Patrick Blackwell (Nicholas Hoult).

Owen knows he and his son Connor (Finn Little) will be the next targets so goes on the run. He’s headed to his brother-in-law’s house, who is Deputy Sheriff Ethan Sawyer (Jon Bernthal) Hannah's ex-boyfriend.

Mob Boss Arthur Phillip (Tyler Perry) is the one who sent the Blackwells because Owen has evidence against him. The Blackwells force Owen’s car off the road. Owen dies but not before giving Connor the information and telling him to run.

Connor’s lost in the woods, and you guessed it, Hannah stumbles upon him while out on patrol.

The mob boss gives the order, find the boy and kill him.

The Blackwells as a diversion to preoccupy the police, use flares to start a forest fire. When Hannah gets Connor back to her tower, she realizes that a lightning strike disabled the radio at the lookout tower during an electrical storm.

So now she and the boy have to get to town on foot, dodging killers and a massive fires. Films don’t get much more exciting than this one.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 63% of 200 critic reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10. Next for Jolie will be Eternals, an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics race of the same name.

Eternals is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 5, 2021, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
